Dil, Drama, and a Red Velvet Wall — A Very Delhi Diwali

Say what you want about Delhi — call us flashy, dramatic, or over the top — but if there’s one thing this city will always get right, it’s hosting.
Because here, parties aren’t just plans — they’re productions.

Every table corner, every drink stirrer, every perfectly arranged diya — it’s all part of our cultural choreography.
And yet, beneath all the chaos, glitter, and over-poured Picantes, there’s something deeply genuine about the way Delhi celebrates. We host not to impress, but to express.

This Diwali, I wanted to capture that spirit — unapologetically festive, warm, and full of character — without leaning into the overdone “casino” aesthetic everyone loves around this time.
Here’s how it all came together.

The Décor — Platinum Decor Events

This year’s mood wall was completely red velvet — dramatic, rich, and festive without being cliché.
I skipped the usual hearts, spades, and tash motifs and instead created something that felt celebratory and stylish — the kind of space that photographs well and feels warm in person.
The center stage was styled by me (because I can’t resist a personal touch), but the magic hands behind the rest of the setup were Platinum Decor Events, our go-to team for any house event. They always get the brief — festive, not forced — and execute it with perfection.

The Food — Eat by Spicy Grains

The food was handled by Eat by Spice Grains, and as always, they were mad good.
The presentation was clean and creative, and the menu — top-notch. I love that their food feels homely yet elevated, with the kind of detailing that makes people stop mid-conversation to ask who catered.

The Drinks — Imran & Ashif

You know a party’s in good hands when Imran and Ashif are behind the bar.
They’ve been my go-to freelance bartenders for years now — the kind who can make anything from a Picante to a perfect Old Fashioned, always presented beautifully.
They’re professional, kind, and just have this ease that makes guests instantly feel taken care of.

Make it stand out

The Look — Basanti by Matsya

When in doubt, I always end up at Basanti by Matsya
It’s my festive safe space — they have everything from understated elegance to full-glam fits, and you’ll always find something that feels right.
This year, I went for a classic red saree look — because honestly, nothing beats the combination of red silk, Diwali lights, and a terrace full of friends.

The Stationery Design — Kam & Kalm

Every small detail on the bar and tables — from tags to cards — was by Kam & Kalm.
I wanted everything to look cohesive yet personal, and that’s what made the whole space come together visually. A little design, a little emotion, and a lot of red.

The People

And finally, the part no one can replicate — the people.
Because Delhi nights aren’t defined by their decor or playlists, but by the people who spill drinks, overstay, and fill every space with laughter.

We may go a little overboard, but that’s just how we show love.
That’s Dilwali Delhi for you — where the sparkle is real, and the heart behind it even more so.
